Peter Hinson is a Florida native, born and raised in Miami, FL, by parents who instilled in him the values of hard work, Christian faith, and community service. A proud alumnus of Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, FL, Peter graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. During his time at Edward Waters, he was a four-year letterman in baseball, exemplifying dedication both on and off the field.

Peter has been a resident of Volusia County since 2006, after relocating from Miami-Dade County. He and his college sweetheart, Tiffany, have been married for 17 years and are blessed with four children and one grandson.

Before joining the City of Oak Hill, Peter dedicated 15 years to roles in education and youth services, including Special Education Teacher, Juvenile Detention Officer, Juvenile Case Manager, and Campus Advisor. Most recently, he served as a Code Compliance Officer with Volusia County for five years.

Peter proudly joined the City of Oak Hill on September 15, 2025. He enjoys exploring the city’s rich history and vibrant culture and looks forward to serving the community. Outside of work, Peter enjoys sports, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and close friends.

As Oak Hill’s Code Enforcement Officer, Peter is committed to protecting public health, safety, and welfare while contributing to the growth and well-being of this great city.
